I received my DreamScreen last week and promptly set it up. I had no issues, and it's pretty damn fantastic.
With that said, I noticed it does nothing to detect the left and right edges of standard definition content (4:3, unstretched, on a 16:9 screen), and thus do it's dreamscreeny thing.
Couldn't the same top-and-bottom edge detection methods for letterboxed content be implemented for the left and right sides of standard definition content?
Thanks.

Edit: This also affects classic console systems which originally supported a 4:3 aspect ratio, which have been modded for HDMI output (HiDef NES) or these new all-in-one systems like the NES Classic. We get top and bottom dreamscreeny goodness, but nothing on the left and right sides.

The DreamScreen is only programmed to detect the black bars on the top and bottom and adjust for those. We are discussing adding in the functionality for standard definition content.
