Hi guys, i am willing to DIY a bit. I am kinda dissapointed with the brightness of the including leds
What would be brightest LED that i can use with dreamscreen?. Getting a power supply for it is not an issue.

For DIY, the brightest LEDs for DreamScreen is the SK6812 RGB LEDs. Please make sure that the brightness is set to max and also make sure saturation settings are maxed. You can double or triple the number of LEDs as long as an external power supply is used. If you are interested in the new version, Sidekicks might also be something for you to look into as they are VERY bright and can be please anywhere that you Wi-Fi network will reach (so most-likely anywhere in your home)

with DIY you could also use 60 LED/m strips instead of the normal 30 LED/m thus doubling the number of LEDs
On the old DS with max 184 adressable LEDs that will only work for very small TV's
Should be better with the new DS max of 500 LEDs across the two ports
There was some inconsistency in the info on the kickstarter page and unfortunately the DS webpage doesnt seem to contain a spec sheet or manuals of the new products I guess the confusion is that one port can address 250 LEDs but can only power 150 - so you would need to use external power if you exceed 150

another interesting option the DS team mentioned on kickstarter Q&A is to mount and drive LED strips in parallel
If I undestand that correctly than (with external power) you could for example mount 2x the cheaper 30LED/m strips next to each other but only one counts in terms of adressable LEDs
This would give you the option to first try with one LED strip and add another one if the brightness isnt enough.

sorry - I havent tried more than one brand
I would suggest to look at the data sheets for the various LED strips supported.
of course the more LED's the brighter

I noticed this also, however does this mean that DS4K can power 150 per port or 150 total? I.e. if you ran 150 port 1 and 150 port 2 would that work?

The DreamScreen DIY can run 125 LEDs on each input for a total of 250 LEDs.

rgulian, You would receive one DIY Cable in the box. If you need a second one, you would need to buy it separately. In the near future we will be listing a "DIY Cable" option on www.dreamscreentv.com/shop that will be just the DIY Cable. We will be posting this item on the website after we make a few large updates to the site and it will retail for around $10.

The connector is developed by us so you would not be able to find the same one elsewhere.
