Yes, you can run two LED strips in parallel around the back of your TV as you mentioned. The DreamScreen Hub has two LED outputs so you would just plug each strip into an LED output port. We cannot say if WS2812B are the best as it can also depend on the manufacturer/brand, of which there are many. We ship DreamScreen with SK6812 LEDs. When purchased from Amazon, you will most likely have to strip the wires coming out of the LED strip and then feed them into the appropriate place in the DIY terminal. This is fairly quick and easy and is described in-depth in the manual.

He did mention that he has an 85" screen If my math is right that means around 5.8m circumference Using 30 LED/m strips that means roughly 174 LEDs So if he wants 4-sided lighting then 2x174 seems to be over the 250 max LED limit - correct ?

I have a 85" 4K TV mounted on a TV stand, the TV's backpanel is about 2 feet far from the wall.. hence i will be needing brighter led's so that DS can beam the lights on the wall with its full glory. 2 feet seems to be tough one thing you could try - put the LEDs angled on a frame In this post on a german forum the guy used a 45" angle to increase brightness. He also put them on a aluminum frame since he didnt want to tape them to the back of his OLED TV www.hifi-forum.de/index.php?action=browseT&forum_id=216&thread=920&postID=221#221

ral67,
In my quote on your last post I wasn't factoring in the size in the TV. I just meant that, in general, running the LEDs in parallel like that is possible.

Your current website manual is incorrectly showing 184 leds on one port as an option (page 20). Has the limit changed from 150?
Also, can you provide more detailed instructions on how to setup a 2 port led strip configuration, each supporting 2 sides of the TV? When I edit ports in the setup, what do the circles represent? I can only toggle one at a time. One turns red, the other turns blue. Is that where each strip starts? Thanks.

4kdude,
I will look into the website manual you mentioned, but the most important thing to remember is probably that there is a vertical limit of 45 LEDs and a horizontal limit of 80 LEDs, for a total of 250 LEDs.
In the app the circles at the bottom saying "LED 1" and "LED 2" each represent one of the LED outputs on the Hub. When you drag your finger from one corner of the TV to the next, you are signaling to the DreamScreen that the LED strip starts where you tapped and goes in the direction you are dragging your finger, with the beginning of the LED strip being the end with the wires attached.

Someone else asked the same question (support for the APA102) in the Kickstarter comments section, and Rakesh told him "The DreamScreen DIY currently will work with WS2812B, SK6812, APA104, and WS2813 digital LED lights."... so I assume that's a "no". I hope Kyle or Rakesh will correct me if I'm wrong. just make sure that you do NOT get 4-LED RGBW (extra white LED besides red/green/blue) - DreamScreen doesnt support them a sign for incompatibility is 4-pin - these are analog but DS needs 3-pin digital LEDs another sign for incompability is if the LEDs need 12V - the DS supported ones are all 5V The supported WS2813 has 4 pins though, due to dual data wires right? I take only 3 need to be connected or both DI and BI together?

For WS2813 I believe only DI is needed, but you could tie DI and BI together; I personally have not tested this

Only DI is necessary but we recommend putting both that and the Backup in the DATA port.

Hello DS support,
I have a couple of questions regarding the HD DIY kit. I have a 70 inch. I'm wanting to use 2x SK6812 RGBW (3 pin) 60 LEDs/meter. Back in Sep 2017 DS mentioned something about using an external 5v power source. Was this mention of the external 5V power source suppose to be an additional 5V power source wired directly into the LED strip? And if that is the case, would I be able to run more LEDs out of a single port?
