Are you using the provided DreamScreen Splitter or a different recevier/amp? Both?
We have found that most HDMI receivers are set to only broadcast sound to SPEAKERS by default. From DreamScreen's Music Mode to work properly, sound must be carried through the HDMI cable connected to DreamScreen. If your receiver is set to only send sound to SPEAKERS then DreamScreen is not receiving the necessary information to process lights in Music Mode.
To fix this, it is simply a matter of changing the settings of your receiver to pass sound to TV+SPEAKERS. If you do not know how to change this setting, you should be able to do an internet search for your specific receiver and find out how.

Unfortunately, this only works when the TV is ON. My receiver does not appear to send any signal on the HDMI output port when the input is audio-only (radio, CD player, MP3 playback, etc). And unfortunately DS does not have a separate audio input (like an optical audio in port). So, other than continuously keeping the TV on, what are my options? Is there any way to get Music Mode to work with the audio playback on my receiver?

Freddy, The current DS does not have an alternate way of bringing audio to the frequency analyzer. We are keeping this in mind and will have more options in future revisions.
We would love to hear of any other feature requests specific to audio mode.

I have Yamaha AV receiver than runs my DVD player, cable, and surround sound. I have a HDMI cable that runs from the Yamaha reciwver to my dream screen splitter, then from the splitter to my ARC HDMI input on my Samsung TV. I have my internal speakers in the tv on but the music function is not working. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,
I had the same issue - my setup is as follows: HTPC to receiver via HDMI Receiver to DS via HDMI DS to TV via HDMI Pros: all audio formats are played natively (DTS, DTS-HD, DD-MA) DS interacts with video signal flawlessly
Cons: Music played from HTPC does not trigger DS to interact with the music) and I haven’t figured out a way to get My receiver to send audio out and play music through speakers at the same time.
Workaround ( in the same setup above - added the following) Chromecast to DS via HDMI DS to TV via HDMI TV to receiver via Optical
Pros: Can get DS to interact w music
Cons: Need Tv on to pass signal to receiver
Other attempts HTPC to DS via HDMI DS to receiver via HDMI Receiver to Tv via HDMI
Pros: Can get DS to interact with both music and video
Cons: Audio is not played natively - lose the following audio formats (DTS, DTS-HD, DD-MA) - only two channel stereo is passed through to receiver ( I have tried playing with the settings in DS for passthrough)
Any help or advice on trying to get audio and video to interact with DS would be appreciated.

So hopefully this will be fixed soon...
