I have to thanks you for this post! I have a bad time to find a splitter who will work with my Xbox One X (And having all check mark green). Since I don't need a matrix like EZ-MX42PRO-HAS I bough the spitter from the same compagny EZ-SP12HAS and it work like a charm. I have tried 2 other splitter (will list bellow) who have failed to work properly. The EZ-SP12HAS have a swith to downscale the signal of output 2 (witch connect to DS4K) to 1080p where i'm happy to tell it fix the 24p flashing issue. But I have a but, my TV don't support Dolby Vision so I can't confirm the Dolby Vision work with this switch but if we trust the description on Amazon it will be ok.
Here my setup.
All Xbox, cable box, ect. go to a AVR, the output of AVR go to the EZCOO splitter, 4K output to TV and 1080p (Downscale) go to DS4K.
I simply send signal to DS4K, i don't use it as a switch. no output from DS4K.
Purchased a DS4K Solo to upgrade my old original DS HD and realized the flickering LED problem was a widespread issue. The solution however was not an exact fix, as different people has success with different step. I shortlisted the path as explained in the above quoted post.
My current setup is as follows :
ONKYO_TX-NR575E with the following inputs hooked
1. HTPC (Dell Hybrid Studio 140G + XFX Single Slot RX 550 )
2. (PS3, Roku+, Chromecast) - grouped via Kinivio 350BN switch
4. Android TV Streaming Box
Onkyo AV only has one HDMI output connected to HDMI Input 1 on Samsung UA50HU7000R .
Reading thru all the threads it was now clear that I need an HDMI splitter to send the same signal to 4K Solo. The HD-Fury range of products is an overkill for my needs plus way above my budget.
I am looking for low-mid price alternatives to serve my purpose, after some personal searching, i took a leap of faith to buy the following one
Plugged in the splitter to send the Onkyo output signal to DS4K via HDMI2 output, found out that LED flickering is still persistent.
Have tried changing the HDMI cable to a high quality one, and downscaling the output on HDMI2 to 1080P, both didn't solve the flickering issue until now.
To check, I hooked back my old DS-HD to the HDMI splitter output and it works fine. Now I think if I had to go the splitter way to downscale the output, then buying DS4K solo was a total waste of money as they same could be achieved by DS-HD and splitter. Wish I could have though about it earlier.
Have ordered some new LED from below link, as the actual impact was less due to DS-HD v/s DS4k Solo, its actually the quality and quantity of the LED (upto the limit supported by DS) which create the ambiance.
Have also ordered the additional power supply and DIY cable for the LED strip, maybe flickering with DS4K would be due to power attenuation along the line, so will try hooking up the extra power to see if they are consistent. It may not be the issue, as the same original DS LED strip works fine without flickering on DS-HD.
Any ideas or guidance is appreciated.
Probably the above experience would be useful for someone else looking to a similar upgrade.
