Can you not just add a TP link power port and bar it dream screen. Then connect the TP link outlet with Alexa and bam... ask Alexa to turn on/off dream screen. $29.99 workaround

Bryan, does the DreamScreen remember its last state when power is cut? If it doesn't, this won't work.
Plus, it is the very definition of a Kludge, even if it works.
That said, I may try it as lately the Bluetooth has been so flaky I've had to manually turn it on several times. Probably a result of having a home saturated with electrical interference from competing devices.

Yes, it does remember that. Im using a master/slave outlet for the living room, so each time the receiver turns on, the DS will turn on, too.

I learned it when I bought something called a "kludge kit" based on Jerry Pournelle's recommendation many years ago. It was a small leather case filled with things that were actually useful at a job site. No soldering iron or other useless items. Instead, it had a small roll of duct tape and some packets of two-part epoxy glue along with some other useful items like a screwdriver that did not include odd tips for specific jobs. It was designed by an engineer for other engineers. I still have it, and have used parts of it at times when I just want to get the job done. It isn't available anymore, sadly. I strongly suspect it was made in someone's garage. Whoever he is, he should go on Shark Tank right now and earn the money he has earned. Sean

Finally got around to connecting my DreamScreen to a WeMo Sense power switch I had lying around. I programmed it to come on with the television using my Logitech Harmony remote, and it works great! I wish I had done it earlier.
Only snag is when watching something other than the main HDMI input that goes through the DreamScreen. In that case, I just leave it off. Would be better to switch it to a fixed color, but that can only be done from the app, which I find only sometimes works due to general Bluetooth flakiness. For now, I mostly just leave it off in those cases.

I broke the cardinal rule of posting to forums and I didn't check the other rooms for what I was looking for. Anyhow, It looks like they've added it? or at least are close? DreamScreen comes up as a Manufacturer (I assume this is new?) but I can't find the device model number anywhere - I tried 'Xtreme' - no luck. I've posted here about it as well: dreamscreen.boards.net/thread/215/harmony-universal-remote-support

Sean Rest In Peace Mr. Pournelle (I just learned of his passing (happened last month) and recalled your story and how I read up on him because of your fun story and use of a great word. He was a truly remarkable man)
