Hi. Just received my 4K DS from your UK distributor on eBay.
I’ve set up the main unit and LEDs.
I have these issues:
1) Dolby Vision passthrough doesn’t work: when starting a DV film the first few seconds are fine but then the screen flickers and then loses Dolby Vision. Also the LEDs flicker weirdly and colourfully.
2) Anything 24Hz cause the LEDs to flicker
3) I have put the DS behind my TV and the app no longer sees it unless I hold the phone right by the unit
4) the unit is surprisingly noisy...does it have a fan?
5) music mode never does anything. Why doesn’t the DS take the HDMI audio from my blurays and flash the lights to that?
I also have two sidekicks but not bothering with those as currently the basics don’t work.
I am on the latest iOS app and the DS firmware is 1.3.5.2
Any help would be appreciated before I send it all back for a full refund.
I should add that I’ve tried numerous HDMI cables on both input and output.
Thanks, Richard

To add after further testing:
On my Apple TV 4K: Anything 24Hz and the colours don’t change much and I noticed that when a scene goes to black most of the top half of the lights (extreme set) stay lit whiteish (apart from the bottom led on each side on the second strip from the top). Actually It looks like those aforementioned LEDs are on permanently in this viewing mode. I have tried the exact same media in HDR and non HDR formats in 60Hz and the LEDs work as expected.
There is, as I mentioned before, an awful flicker on 24Hz media which I can mitigate with the Fade Rate option...should this be necessary?
Regarding Dolby Vision content: the LEDs are always various hues of red/pink!
So lots of 24Hz issues?

We are still working on some issues with DreamScreen and 24Hz and plan to release the fix in the next firmware upgrade.
For music mode, if you are using a sound system you have to manually set the sound to transmit via HDMI as well as the speakers. Not all sound systems will allow this but most will.

Hi. Just received my 4K DS from your UK distributor on eBay. Are you certain that it is a 4K Unit? I didn't know that the 4K units were ever sold via eBay. When I look up sales history, even on eBay UK, on what appears to be DS's eBay account all I can see is HD Units sales. When did you make the purchase? I'm very glad that you received your Unit and that it made it 'across the pond' successfully (distribution, logistics, and international shipping can be a huge headache). However, I might be a little bit frustrated if eBay purchases seem to be fulfilled before all of the KickStarters, IndieGoGo'ers, and Official website purchasers.

Yes I am sure...it’s got 4K all over it 😀
I ordered after Christmas and from l.i.m.e-xb360 eBay store. They are, I believe the official distributor for the UK?

I have a DS 4K unit and is having issues with my Apple 4K TV. It will play for few minutes then a blank screen comes on as if its restarting. I have changed HDMI cords and it did not fix the issue. I have a LG C7 TV that supports Dolby Vision. When I switch to my old Apple TV, I do not have this issue at all. When will the next firmware upgrade be available?

For now, Apple TV 4k users should turn of the HDR matching/framerate matching options under video settings until the DS team can fix the dolby vision passthrough issue. This has worked for me so far. Just to clarify, even watching HDR Netflix content would not work with my DS while the HDR match/framerate option was on, now I can watch without any issues. Just not in dolby vision

I’m having all kinds of difficulty with my Apple TV 4k as well. Ran it directly to my LG OLED E6 and it’s fine. Run it through the dreamscreen hub and I’m having issues. Namely, I’m seeing lots of artifacts and dropouts. Have changed cables, all are good when run directly to Apple TV and produce 4k and hdr content fine. Also, noticing when on main menu of Apple TV the dreamscreen accurately produces color. However, the minute I switch into an app to watch content the dreamscreen goes bonkers and either provides two ambient colors (usually red and purple) or the bottom part of the lights shuts off. Very frustrated!

have you turned OFF HDR ? Yes, it alleviates issues but HDR is the most beneficial part of 4k. Seems kind of ridiculous that I have to turn it off in order for this to function properly.

Turning off HDR is a temporary workaround. The DreamScreen team have stated that they are aware of the issues with HDR, and are working on a firmware fix for it.

However, the minute I switch into an app to watch content the dreamscreen goes bonkers and either provides two ambient colors (usually red and purple) or the bottom part of the lights shuts off. Very frustrated! To confirm with Mark64, on ATV4K, Dolby VISION has a cycling issue with the DS4K at this time. So you have to switch to 4K HDR 60 Hz. Now with my HDR matching On with 4K HDR 60 Hz, the lights will start to show non matching colors and not work properly. I am assuming that the apple tv is trying to match the way the developer intended and the DS gets confused because it is not completely Dolby VISION compatible at this time. So yes, the HDR matching must be turned OFF while using the DS4K at this time. Also, just like with the XB1X, the chroma must be set to 4:2:0 to for the DS4K to work properly. If you set it to 4:2:2 it will cycle to a blank screen about every 2 minutes. So the DS4K only allows the ATV4K to play 4K and HDR. The problem is that, apple just released this HDR matching with frame rate matching to fix the problem that the ATV4K had previously, in which the ATV4K stayed in HDR mode no matter what you watched to avoid the video flickering when changing between shows that had different frame rates and HDR capabilities. This really impaired the video quality and users were not allowed to watch shows how the developers intended. This was a major update that apple made to fix that problem, but is currently not supported by the DS4K. I have decided to just plug my ATV4K directly to my TV bypassing the DS4K because the Dolby VISION and Dolby ATMOS is what I bought my TV and Sound bar for. Hopefully, DS can fix this for ATV4K users soon. To sum it up: For ATV4K, Dolby Vision video is not working properly at this time. It will show for a little while then cycles off to a black screen while the LEDs are not working at all. Chroma 4:2:2 is not support on the ATV4K through DS4K at this time. HDR matching and frame rate matching is not working with DS4K. Even with the settings set to mentioned above, the LEDs do not work properly when the ATV4K goes to sleep and the screensaver is up; the colors are not matching whats on screen (also it says on the tv that dolby vision is on in the upper left corner during the screen saver, so this could be the issue)

The guys who own DS have bought an Apple TV 4K and DV enabled screen as I made them aware of these issues a few weeks back. At least they are working on a fix/update 👍

The Apple TV's new HDR matching option was difference maker when it finally released, I don't want to have it turned off forever just to have it play nice with the DS.
