Is the DS hub HDMI a pass through or does it need power, enabling via app ect?

It is a passthrough device that also acts as a splitter. It has its own power supply.

Sorry...I should have thought my question out a little better.
Does the power supply need to be plugged in before I get the HDMI signal to pass through the hub?

Not that it really matters much I was just curious about it. My Yamaha AVR has a pass through without being in standby. I don't use it anymore though, got rid of the soundbar and now just do 7.2 surround full time....BIG

are you sure ?
On my Yamaha RX-A1010 the HDMI pass-thru definitely stops working then I unplug the AVR

Nope...not sure as I have never unplugged it. But my AVR does not have to be on to watch cable or PS3 ect. In the settings there is a toggle to have it be a passive pass through.

Had to reset DS hub 3 times yesterday as I couldn't even watch TV. Hopefully the new firmware will fix that. But if was a passthrough when the hub is not on seems like it would be a good thing.

Thought I should update this as it may help others. Powered off the DS then deleted the app, downloaded the new app, updated the new app...and all has been fine since. YAY!
