I was wondering if anyone else is having issues matching tv colors to the DreamScreen. My main issue is with blue colors. My blues appear more to be a teal color dispite trying to adjust my Denon AVR-X7200WA receiver. I have color boost turned off as well as minimal luminosity. When I adjust the saturation to fix the blue; it affects other colors and makes it worse. Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix this? Or perhaps it’s just the limitation of the Flex LEDs.

What color is the wall behind the TV?

Hi Granpopcicle. My wall color is white so there should be no outstanding issues with that. I have tried all modes on my receiver such as “game”, “movie”, “night” and completely off. None of these made any difference. My tv is Panasonic’s last good flagship plasma and my receiver was denons top receiver a couple years ago so my equipment should not be an issue either. Any advice is appreciated.

I was having similar problems especially when I first installed it. In fact when I got up the next few mornings it was not passing the signal through the hub. I had to reset it those times. Then I had noticed a firmware update was available. Reinstalled the app and let the update do its thing and.... all has been well since. Color balancing was greatly improved too.
Anyhow... I have a light beige wall and wanted white to be white, blue to be blue..etc. It took awhile messing around with the saturation levels. A tiny bit of change in one or another changed the others colors drastically, for me anyhow. Also I have the color boost on low as I needed it on to get the effect I was looking for. It was a bit challenging with the beige wall and all but eventually got it right and it all matched the screen pretty well.
So maybe try to update the firmware if you haven't already and then just keep playing with the settings.
BTW I to have a plasma tv too (love my plasma...nothing like them IMO) and everything goes through my Yamaha AVR. One HDMI into the hub from the AVR and one HDMI to the TV.........nice and simple.

now what would be really cool if the DS app could use the smartphone camera to auto-calibrate the colors

I did do the update and it actually made my colors worse initially and then I re-tuned for hours and got it back to how it was color wise. I am running the same config as you where you have the DS placed. I had to run a separate USB to the TV to get it to shut off automatically which I saw many others had to do as well. I have been in touch with DS tech support so hopefully I can get this resolved soon. If I get any good information I will definitely post back with the answer.
Ral67, that is actually a good idea and it really should not far fetched that it couldn't be done. It would almost need to be like a Philips Hue screen capture and I wouldn't think it would be hard for a programmer to do.

now what would be really cool if the DS app could use the smartphone camera to auto-calibrate the colors That is a GREAT idea and should be presented in the suggestions forum. Had noticed that on the 2 different versions of the app that the sliders where at different default settings. Not sure what was going on there. That may explain why after the update it was worse for you. I have only had my DS for about 10 days so really haven't had it long enough to go through the paces. While I have not been been overly joyed with the color rendition sometimes and thought I just had to live it because of the wall color. The whites are where I was having a big problem at in the beginning at a cost of some blues. There was just me and a was compromise I figured I just had to accept. However.......I was watching Blue Planet II last night and have to admit that DS was having a really hard time with the all blues.Thinking about maybe putting the test pattern DVD in and pausing it occasionally then using the sliders in the ambient setting to adjust the colors to match what is on the screen. From there look where the sliders are at and change them in the Video mode to match and see how that goes.

Grandpopcicile; that is the exact same TV program I was using for tuning my DS! I have been talking with Victor in tech support from DS and he told me to check my TV and make sure I had no of the enhancement modes on such as "Movie", "Game" or any such settings. I had my TV on "THX Mode" and turned it off. I was shocked as this made a big difference in all the colors that already matched. My blues were much better; however were still off. Last night was a late night so I didn't get a chance to work with the RGB adjustments but I think this is something you should look into on your TV. Also; DS told me that they did not do any testing on plasma TV's because they are considered old and nobody is buying them anymore. He told me they the plasma's degrade over time (which I knew) and it is not the DS itself but the TV. I will update you with my tuning results shortly.

So I got a chance to tweak the RGB’s and got things a little bit closer. I ran a bunch of 4K Demo’s even though my tv isn’t capable of 4K. Assuming that the DS LED’s are supposed to match near perfectly I noticed that my blues were again off, in addition my red was slightly off as well as my green. They were close but the DS appeared to be much fuller so with that being said I tend to agree with DS that my TV has degraded more than I realized. I guess you just get used to things and don’t notice how bad they are. I’m still happy with my plasma and plan on holding off another year or two before I upgrade. As with any technology it is constantly changing and this is my opinion but I have a feeling they are going to try to start doing more stuff with VR in the very near future TV wise so I’m holding off. Let me know how you make out with adjustments and if I can help let me know.

Also I heard back from DS and told them about Rals camera idea and this was their response.
We've actually considered this in the past but found that it is very unreliable as it is affected by too many factors such as:
Type of camera, Lighting in the room Color of walls/furniture

Mack, Thank you for all that great info. I may try and turn off movie mode but that with my own adjustments gets me an amazing picture.
I am with you on the waiting issue. I got my 5 year 59" Samsung 3d plasma from a moving sale. Long story shortened... all I had was $37 got tv, chop saw (sold for $150) and a whole bunch of other good stuff...filled my SUV as they were leaving the next day...what luck. My wife said TV was to big as we had a 43" Samsung plasma but after watching wheel of fortune just that night it all but forgotten. (sold ols plasma for $150). My son rented a trailer and for $300 got a brand new $2100 snow blower and filled that trailer. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. Score!
Sorry got a little sidetracked. I am waiting for the OLED's to drop in price and by then maybe the refresh rates on LED TV's will be higher too.

I ran my first 4k this weekend with full audio visual kit....No issues whatsoever. Even with a dark red Matt wall.i have now painted a pale Matt yellow and rest the balance as I just couldn't resist.
