Customers will buy the DreamScreen DIY from us and a reel of compatible LED lights from a retailer and then stick as few or as many lights are necessary for the setup. This will allow for more size options that are currently outside of the DreamScreen range, such as a projector screen or computer monitor. The kit is $89.99 + Shipping. However, DreamScreen does have hard limit of 32 LEDs vertically and 60 LEDs horizontally so please measure and plan accordingly.

Ask your friend to send an email to info@dreamscreentv.com with their shipping address stating they would like to order the DIY kit.
We do not have a set date for the release of the new version of DreamScreen at this time.

Does DS support both RGB and RGBW LED strips ?
Any advantage of using SK6812 over WS2812B apart from that they are supposed a bit brighter ?
thanks

DreamScreen supports both SK6812 over WS2812B. These lights are very similar except the SK6812 are a bit brighter like you mentioned. Other than this, there is not a clear advantage of one over the other.

Just to prevent any more confusion, DreamScreen does NOT support RGBW leds... DreamScreen only supports RGB at this time. Sorry for any inconvenience

I have a set of SK6812 and using about 110 leds. You are talking about an external power suply. I need another power suply, about 25 leds at the end aren't working, but I can't find a suiteble PSU, can you give me a type I need and is it replacing the power suply in the DS? I found a proper PSU 5V-10Amp, can I place it with the same power jack straight in the DS?

I guess it depends on whether they use the same control protocol than the ones that DS uses. I dont think the DS developers are much inclined to add code to support the few DIY installations

I am not an electronics guy but I wouldnt funnel 10A through the DS I would use the DS power supply just to power the HDMI stick and use the 10A PS to power just the LEDs. Other Option could be to cut the 5V and GND between the first and second half of the LEDs and power the first half from the DS PS and the second half from an additional one. *IF* that works then another 5A PS should be enough. Maybe the guys designing the Hardware could chime in with a recommendation ? UPDATE - found out that data line needs ground to work

I found a proper PSU 5V-10Amp, can I place it with the same power jack straight in the DS? I am just setting up a similar DIY setup with 2x(49+28)==105 on a 75" TV I also got an external 5V 10A power supply - Here is what works for me: only connect data and ground from the DS breakout cable to the LEDs in the corner after half of the LED's dont connect 5V just data and ground then from the first of the ports of the 10A PS connect 5V and ground (labeled V+/V-) to the start of strip 1 and the other 5v/GND to the end of strip 4 so basically each port of the PS powers half of the LEDs When I first tried it to power the full length of the strips from only one end then at high brightness the lights started to flicker or not work - a quick check with a multimeter showed that voltage had dropped to around 2.6V at the end of the strip. (5.6V at the start) That might be because of the edge connectors I used when I was too lazy to solder I had already gotten the 10A PS when I didnt know the exact number of LEDs I could use - now in hindsight I would just get a smaller 5A PS and have the DS stick power the first half of the LEDs and the addtl. 5A PS the other half. DS team was saying that their PS can power up to 90 LEDs. When I get the new DS HD I will probably retire the bulky 10A PS and power each half of the LEDs from one of the two LED ports of the new unit - should work

I purchased 5m of sk6812 and very disappointed to find out it doesn’t work, while you confirmed it does. wne cofigured to be 5 by 10 only 23 leds are lightninh. to get all my phisical 30 by 53 led to light I had to configure 45 by 63 in app. and they do not work properly for sure. so just do not confuse customers.

Sorry for any inconvenience could you please edit all posts from admins which state that rgbw IS supported to state IS NOT, currently there are 2+ posts state the false which is confusing.
