Hi everyone,
I am experiencing some issues with my Dreamscreen HD and a pioneer Elite SC-55 receiver.
In a nutshell, the receiver refuses to output a signal through HDMI if the DS-HD is already POWERED (either standby mode or active) when I turn the receiver ON.
Following suggestions from this post (similar issue with similar receiver), I decided to use the second HDMI output of the receiver to feed the signal to the DS-HD, while using the main out put to send signal to the TV. I get the same result. Note that both HDMI outputs send identical signal (both 1080p).
If I take the receiver out of the equation (e.g. BD player to DS-HD to TV), everything works as it is supposed to.
Currently, the only solution I found is to unplug the DS-HD before I turn the receiver ON, and then power the DS-HD ON...which is kind of a pain. Note that leaving the DS-HD in standby mode does not solve my situation. Again, there must be NO electrical power fed to the DS-HD when the receiver is turned ON. I have also tried all sorts of HDMI cables. Same conclusions.
I was hoping I could use the USB-in port of the DS-HD to turn it on, but unfortunately this only wakes it up from standby mode.
Have you guys ever experienced this? Could the DS-HD be defective?
Thanks, Nico

Have you tried using a WiFi plug, you could then have it powered off when you start up, toggle the WiFi switch either manually or have it as a remote macro command (you could use IFTTT if you don't have a smart remote).

Thanks for your replay nachobizniz. I did look into wifi plugs, although I did not want to have to manually turn it on even through an app. Could you please elaborate on the sequence IFTTT would use to turn it on? What would trig such sequence? Alternatively, i am thinking about using a timer cycle module relay, tricked by the 5V signal coming out of my receiver (USB port) with a 10-15 second delay to power the DS-HD. This would definitely solve my problem, although it is kind of "old school" ;-)

First question, do you have a smart remote for everything like a harmony?
For my setup, I have the DS on a switched outlet in my receiver, however I do not use your receiver. Have you tried using a switched outlet on your receiver? There may be a long enough delay from power on to DS booting to fool your receiver.
If you use Alexa or another assistant like Google, you could set up IFTTT to turn on the switch when you say something to avoid having to open the app every time.
I do relay like the relay idea if nothing else works.

Did you attempt a relay?
