Hi! I just received my new DS4K set. I made couple dozen attempts, to get my DS4K unit first run connecting to my wifi router – with no success. The iOs app finds the DS wifi and DS itself, however, after picking my home WIFI SSID and typing in the password, the iOs app shows a “sending SSID and password” for a while and then shows the error “something's not right... a new device failed to connect..." looping back to first setup screen. DS Box has a consistent red LED. I have a Cambium Networks cnPilot E600 AccessPoint with 2GHz and 5 GHz wifi nets, no mac filtering or any other restrictions for incoming connections. BTW only 2GHz SSID is recognized by DS - the 5GHz is not shown, inspite of b/g/n wifi module stated on the DS box. The DS is in the same room with AP and in line of sight. This is definitely not a signal problem. I tried to connect using iPhone 5, iPhone 7 and iPad mini. DS restart has no effect. This is the only wireless device in my place I have problems with.
Is there any known steps i can follow to resolve the problem? Please advise and support.

Problem solution: I made a hotspot on my other iphone. DS successfully connected to it. Then i was able to do firmware update from 1.3.5.4 (factory firmware on DS4K DIY bought 11.2018) to firmware 1.6.5.4. With new firmware DS connected to my Access Point without any problem. Stick, setup, select, play and enjoy )

Is your router using the same name for its 2.4 and 5 GHz networks? If so, change one so that they are different from each other.

I have disabled almost all advanced features in my router for that 2GHz WLAN and was finally able to connect SideKick. BUT... it is working only in Ambient mode. No functionality under Video. What the hell?!?!

I feel like 20 years ago with some legacy device and buggy driver not able to work smoothly under common version of OS... it is just not right to sell such a buggy hardware. Why should i adopt the settings of my WiFi for a 2018 product?!?! I am not your beta-tester! I bought this s...t and paid money to get, what it was advertised for.

I'm sorry to hear you feel that way. What is the model and brand of router you are using?

My AP is Cambium Networks cnPilot E600. As for today - all advanced features in AP are disabled and SideKick is working. But with some bugs. Sometimes it works only in Ambient mode. Sometime it is not switching on or off. Yesterday i became a new bug: the DS leds are flashing white once every 4 seconds... See video proof here: goo.gl/BqLzA1Restart, reset, power on/off - no effect. Long full power cut off for more than 12 hours helped so far. This is very sad...

I had the same issue, could connect the side kicks but not the hub. What worked for me was in app connected to home Wi-Fi, before searching for new device I switched the Wi-Fi connection to the hub then click add device.

I had exactly the same problem. After working perfectly for several months.
In my case it was a too busy wifi channel!
Changed it from a static channel to "auto" and works like a charm!
