Just wanted to share my overall good experience with DS and talk about my upgrade. My only real disappointment was when I purchased the DIY kit with the Flex LEDs the LEDs were not in stock and it was not mentioned to me at the time of purchase ...not a big deal I got over it. From the beginning I had a good repore with CS with some minor questions which were answered quickly by Victor each time.
My TV is a 59" Samsung 3D Plasma which is 11" from the wall. It was nice and like it although being so far from the wall wished for more. Fast forward several months and I bought some SK6812 RGB 60 LED per meter. Used 240 of the LED's and installed them a about 1.5" from the edge of the tv where it has a slight angle pointing out. While it is not as precise it's not noticeable most of the time and well worth the slight trade off. That angle combined with greater density of LED's has proved to be an amazing combination for me. LOVE it!
Thinking of upgrading...do it you will not be disappointed. Thanks for reading.

Are you saying the sk6812 LED strips are better than the DS strips? I have a 75" screen and 2 strips from DS which has given me almost 2 strips around the TV... but even with 2 strips its pretty underwhelming to be honest..... only if I increase the color level to high does it really pop the way i want, but then the colors are completely wrong.

Yes, to me the LED chips seem brighter and with the much higher density count of LED's (almost 3 times more) it is much brighter. Now I no longer use the color boost and the slider is only about 3/4 up. During the day in bright sunlight I max the slider and can still the effect pretty well....which before was barely noticeable.

My son ordered them from an amazon seller...can't find the link. Think I got the last set. There were also some sellers on ebay with reasonable pricing. I just wanted to take advantage of amazon prime.

I noticed the manual states that the DIY cable provides enough current for 150 LED's, but your post mentions you used 240. Did everything still power up properly?

I’ll add to this.
Unfortunately, my flex LEDs died, so I bought a DIY cable and some SK6812 LED’s to tie me over till my replacement Flex arrive.
The 30 LED p/m SK6812 and DIY cable arrived today. They were a bit more fiddly to set up as the folds at the corners can land where an LED is, but with a bit of creativity I managed to get around it.
The verdict?
Well, after using them for 5 minutes the difference is night and day, I am completely blown away! I ran the ambilight surfing demo on YouTube and me and my fiancé looked at each other in shock.
Colours are more saturated, the LEDS are MUCH brighter than the Flex LEDs. I can have the minimum luminosity slider higher without washing out the colours as much.... I can even use them during the day and still see the lights. Previously, I wouldn’t even turn my Dreamscreen on in till sundown as the sunlight would completely wash out the effect. I’ll also add that this is all with the main slider at about 70%. I had to have the Flex LEDs at 100% at all times.
I wonder why the Flex LED’s are bundled with the kit as they are completely underwhelming compared to the SK6812’s and don’t do the product justice at all (in my opinion.)

I split the strips into 2 groups. Each with there own power supply. As for the Diy cable I used the one that came with the kit (I bought the DIY kit n Flex LED's separately as it was around $25 cheaper ) for the other strip I cut the cable off the Flex strip as I was not going to use it anyhow. Badda boom and I was done. As paulforrest mentioned the corners are a bit harder. Instead of folding I just rounded around the corners.

Hey, my flex LEDs failed but I think the main cable is still good. Are you saying that you can cut the end of the cable off the flex strip and just solder the wires to a new LED strip as a makeshift DIY cable?

Once you solder it on it is no longer a makeshift cable and IS a DIY cable....same thing. Pretty easy to do too. The only thing with the sk6812 strip I miscounted and wanted to add another 3 leds to each separate strip and for some reason no matter how many times I tried to solder on that little section.....those added 3 would not light.

I ordered a 5m spool of 30 LED/6812's off Amazon but unlike the adventurous grandpopsicle I am not quite prepared to repurpose a working into a potenitally non working one especially in these hands Maybe Kyle Admin would be also have an idea I appreciate the information

Is there a guide if I want to connect more than 150 ? I don't know how to connect everything so they work 100% .. the external power supply to the LEDS and such ... and how to corner them . Can someone make a little guide with pictures ?
