I got my Dreamscreen 4k almost a week ago and love it, when it's working right. I got the 4k kit with 2 Sidekicks. My setup is Dish receiver -> Xbox One X ->Samsung HW-N850 Soundbar -> Dreamscreen 4k -> Samsung Q6 65" TV. I have 19 LEDs on the left and right side of the TV and 34 on top and bottom. I have double and triple counted to make sure I have the right numbers.
First I'll say that figuring out settings just to get the DS to work was an absolute nightmare. Once I got the Flex LED strip on the TV, everything hooked up, and the app installed, I was getting no picture or audio at all through the DS. After spending hours playing with every setting in the DS app and every setting on my TV, I finally found an obscure External Device Manager setting on my TV. I disabled the automatic picture resizing setting in the External Device Manager and magically I started getting picture and audio. Everything seemed to be working for the most part.
I do seem to get wrong colors showing sometime from the LEDs, but from reading here that seems to be a common problem. I have the Sidekicks set to show the bottom left and bottom right sectors. They rarely show the correct colors. They will be close to correct, but rarely show what they should. They also randomly cut out for several seconds before coming back on. Another problem I am having with the Sidekicks is the power cords. They are extremely difficult to keep the power cord plugged into the Sidekicks and even the slightest touch will cause them to lose power. I am unable to use the stands for them because the power cords won't stay in. Not to mention the swivels on the stands are so loose that the lights will not stay in the position I want them.
The biggest problem I am having is when I switch from watching TV to watch a movie. Every time I go to watch a movie, I get a bright flickering at the bottom right LEDs that won't go away. I can mess with every setting in the DS app and nothing fixes it. None of the other lights properly sync with the picture when this happens. The only thing I have found to fix this is just turning the DS off and on in the app repeatedly until it works properly. None of the LEDs sync properly when this happens, but only the bottom right LEDs flicker. I have had to turn it off and on for almost 10 minutes a couple times before it would work. Once the flickering stops, everything seems to work properly. My Dish Receiver is run through my Xbox One X and I watch movies through the Xbox also, so the source never changes when I watch a movie.
Has anyone experienced this before? I'm not sure if this is a settings problem, a software problem, or a hardware problem.
