I'm having a issue with the black screen on my Samsung 4k nu8000 tv with my Xbox one x and can't find a fix for it. Tried disabling settings, tried different HDMI cables and nothing. But everything works perfectly on Nvidia shield watching 4k movies or other 4k content....but on the Xbox in the display settings it has override and set to auto-detect (recommended) and I switch it to HDMI and it converts everything to 1080p and it then works and I try to select 4k and HDR and tells me that this TV doesn't support 4k and hdr
Very big update I ordered another set of different HDMI cables from Amazon and they came today so I wired it up. Xbox one x, Nvidia shield > DS 4k hub > tv and everything is working PERFECTLY !!!! I can't believe it and all 4k, HDR, cec settings are on/enabled. If your having this issue with the black screen order these HDMI cables. Monoprice certified premium HDMI cable, make sure they are 3 feet in length. Some reason no 6 foot/ 2 meter cables wouldn't work.
Final update....it started flickering the black screen but not in a rapid session, maybe once every few minutes. So I turned off HDR in the settings on the Xbox and it's working 100% no issues
I’ve been experiencing the same issue (black screens) on both my XB1X & PS4Pro. The transition from non HDR to HDR goes wrong more often than right. Sometime the picture returns in a mirror split image of the screen with the color looking very distorted.
