Set up with new TV not displaying dreamscreen lights

Finally managed to convince the wife to upgrade to a 4K TV and have set this up fine this morning. The issue I'm running into is that the HDMI runs from the HDMI Out to TV and there doesn't appear to be anyway to have the TV itself as a source. It's a Sony and runs Android TV if that makes any difference. I used to use an Nvidia Shield TV which went on the input but I was really hoping to be able to set this all up without the TV box. Any ideas or suggestions gratefully received
