Hi!
I got my DS HD Mega last week. The first setup went exactly as described in the manual... with a few glitches, maybe... the first time it wasn't able to connect to the WiFi, but nothing massive, and I had it up and running in about 35 minutes, between connecting the cables, attaching the led strips (in a temporary way) and setting up the app.
That evening and the day after that, everything worked great. I could power it up, change the settings, switch Modes and Ports with the app and as long as I was connected to the WiFi I always had access.
Until tonight. After a few days without using it, I wanted to watch a movie and tried to turn DS on, but the app said that no device was found. I tried scanning the Network a couple of times, with no result. So I went to check if the device was powered off by mistake, but I saw the red light of the standby.
I tried to power it up manually, and it switched to Video mode right away. I tried to switch to the desired video source with the button and it did that as well. The signal got through and I could see the source video and the lights responded accordingly.
So I tried again with the app, but still nothing. I then decided to set it up again from scratch, and see if it would make any difference. I looked in the FAQ to check how to reset the DS to the factory settings, but it looks like it can be done only via the app. From there I came here on the forum, looking for some more info and saw that a guy had a similar problem happening occasionally, that resolved if the device was powered off and on again. So I tried that... again with no other result than making the temporary DS hotspot show up again in my WiFi list.
From that moment on, I tried several times to make the DS connect to my Network, with no result... and things keep happening always in the same order:
1. I power up the device attaching the power cord.
(1b). Sometimes I go to the app first to tap on "Add new devices to the network".
2. I connect my phone to the DS hotspot.
3. I open the app (again) and it starts scanning the WiFi.
4. It finds the device and shows the screen with the checkbox near the name and the "Add selected devices to the network".
5. I select my WiFi and input the password. (Yeah, the password IS indeed the correct one! )
6. It tries to connect to the device, but fails.
7. Prompts the error screen with a "Start Over" option.
8. I repeat points from 2 to 5, but this time (and every second time) it connects to the device, and some "all is well" signs appear on the screen (Success!)
9. "Wrapping things up"
10. Sometimes it disables the DS hotspot and my Phone goes back to my Home Network, sometimes it doesn't (meaning that the HS is visible but not accessible, cause if I try to connect to it again it refuses to do it), and I have to do it manually. In every case I'm back to square one. Once connected to my WiFi the app doesn't find the device on the network, no matter how many reloads I do.
11. I end up disconnecting the power cord to try again.
I tried this whole procedure at least 5 times. I even thought that maybe the DS was too far from the Access Point (even if my phone shows that there is a very strong signal) and I moved the DS at about 20cm from the AP before repeating it again. Nothing. At this point I don't know what to do.
The DS works, but I have to switch everything manually (looks like it didn't keep the "auto switch" setting...) and I cannot access any of the advanced stuff.
Did this happen to anyone else? Any Ideas? Please let me know!
Thanks!
