Hello all, I know that many of you are experiencing issues with your DS 4K devices, trust me, I was one who had to deal with returning two models until the third worked.
Due to the lack of news on the DreamScreen connect, I was debating on removing the DS4K entirely since it affected our Harmony remote experience and I was relying on the unreliable HDMI CEC switching feature in the app.
Fortunately, I found an HDMI switcher that supports 4K/4:4:4/Dolby Vision/HDR10, has two outputs, an SPDIF output to resolve audio lag issues, and an official Harmony remote device profile! HDMI Output 2 sends the full uncompressed data to the television, as long as you have the correct EDID switches enabled. What I did to resolve issues with the DS4K is limit HDMI Output 1 to downscale the output to 1080P only.
Lo and behold, everything works now! Since the switch DOES NOT use auto switching, I can leave CEC turned on my TV so it properly turns on the DS4K using HDMI CEC power detect in the event it is sleeping. I can view my Dolby Vision content while still having my lights work due to the downscaling technology. Unfortunately this means I wasted money on a 4K model since the 1080P DreamScreen will be more than adequate for this setup. The fortunate part however, is that I now have my Dolby Vision content back!!!
Please note that out of the box Dolby Vision was not working for me. If this is the case, go to the website and download the firmware update tool. It immediately fixed it for me. If you’re uncomfortable updating it, I’ve heard their support team is really good and will send you an updated firmware box while you return the other one.
EDIT: It looks as though I lucked out due to Sony using a different standard of Dolby Vision that most television makers don’t utilize. This allows my downscaling to work with DV turned on, but will most likely not be the case for others.
You can find the EZCOO HDMI 2.0 Matrix 4x2 on Amazon: “https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078YS79HZ/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_URvBCbR2AHGMP”

This is great information. I really appreciate you taking the time to write it up. I am guessing you don't/can't get Dolby Atmos since the audio is being passed over SPDIF? Does either Output A or Output B reliably pass ARC?

Im curious if you have an AV receiver inline in this setup? also curious about atmos working? I am using a Xbox One X and have tried various outputs, switches, converters, etc.... but the Xbox consistantly somehow discovers the lowest common video resolution in the chain and only outputs that quality.

Does either Output A or Output B reliably pass ARC? The unit does support ARC, and I have seen reviewers on Amazon getting it to work with Atmos. It also says in the product description that they fully support it. “【Video & Audio】Supports HDMI 2.0 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 8bit,HDR Dolby Vision,HDCP2.2,HDMI OUT 1(A) play 4K or 1080p;EDID DIP Switch with plenty HDMI resolution, use matrix easily;HDMI signal re-timing function, ensure stable 4K UHD HDMI quality; HDMI OUT audio formats of Dolby Digital 7.1CH,Dolby Atmos, DTS:X,Dolby TrueHD,DTS-HD Master,LPCM 2.1/ 5.1/ 7.1CH;HDMI Matrix with audio out; Audio DE-embed SPDIF Optical 5.1CH out, follow HDMI OUT 2(B),no need TV connection.” I have actually moved my SPDIF connection back to the TV, since the timing is more accurate there than before the split.

I do not have an in-line receiver. My television sends all of the audio information via optical to my Sonos. I can confirm the Xbox sees the television‘s full capabilities since I have the Xbox One X directly connected to this switch. Check marks across the board in the TV details/capabilities section under Settings.

Are HDR colors washed out?? If colors are looking washed out with HDR content then make sure you have the HDR Tone Remapping option enabled in the Advanced Settings of the App.

This is interesting since I just got a new TV that's DV capable. I had been sticking with HDR content to not lose DS. The main downside is that it doesn't auto switch. I currently alternate between 3 different devices and it's nice letting everything auto switch to the one I turn on. When it converts down a DV/HDR10 signal to 1080p for the line going to your DS, how well does it handle the color? Are they as vibrant as if you weren't using it and sent the HDR signal into the DS?

Wanted to see if a 4k HDR picture downscaled to 1080p washes out the colors.

Wanted to see if a 4k HDR picture downscaled to 1080p washes out the colors. I attached a photo of 4K HDR content downscaled to 1080P. The colors seem fairly spot on to me. DolbyVision produces pretty much the same result. Also, these are the percentage values I feel are truer to my perspective in the Video Settings of the DreamScreen app: Red - 100% Green - 59% Blue - 40%

I ordered it yesterday, it was supposed to be here today but Amazon failed me. Should be here tomorrow. Would you be so kind as to share your EDID settings?

Awesome!! I ordered it yesterday, it was supposed to be here today but Amazon failed me. Should be here tomorrow. Would you be so kind as to share your EDID settings? Switches 2-3-4 are set to on 2 causes Output A to force a 1080P downscale 3&4 force the unit to recognize Output B as a 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 television. It’s not required but I figured it was safer since I have a Sony A1E OLED, which doesn’t play well with a lot of brands when it communicates its capabilities via CEC. *If you have an Apple TV you can turn on dynamic range matching, but frame rate matching still causes the DreamScreen to flicker uncontrollably

I'm a bit confused why my setup isn't working - all my devices are plugged in via HDMI to my receiver. The TV out on receiver goes to the HDMI/ARC input 2 on the DS4K. The TV out on the DS4k goes to my TV in HDMI4/ARC. This all works of course if I remove the DS4K and plug direct from the receiver to the TV HDMI input, but with the DS4k plugged in as described above I get no picture. Would this HDMI splitter solve the problem? Effectively splitting the signal from my receiver out and then allowing me to plug one HDMI into the DS4k (with nothing in the TV output on DS4K), and the other HDMI from splitter directly to the TV?

Any issues when switching from HDR to SDR? Or when switching to a 1080p device from a 4k HDR device? For example I'm playing a PS4 game in 4k HDR then I switch to a different input and start watching Netflix in 1080p on my fire TV?

For example I'm playing a PS4 game in 4k HDR then I switch to a different input and start watching Netflix in 1080p on my fire TV? It has issues with frame rate switches on the same device input (which is a feature in Kodi/MrMC/ATV4K), but I have not encountered issues switching inputs with different resolutions on the ezcoo. My PS4 is not a pro with a normal 1080P output. It goes between that and the X1X/ATV at 4K/Dolby Vision with no problems. The AppleTV actively switches between SDR/Dolby Vision/HDR depending on the app I’m using, no problems there as well.
